Place Symbols into a Drawing
The Steelcase FSL allows you to explore all the standard Steelcase product offerings or find specifically the part you are looking for. Navigation is done through the table of contents hierarchy.
To access the Place Furniture Dialog you may either click on the down arrow on the Steelcase FSL toolbar, or on “Place Furniture Symbol” in the Steelcase FSL drop-down menu.

Once the Place Furniture Symbol dialog is active on your screen, you may place furniture objects by a variety of ways.
Place By Hierarchy
This tool helps you specify Steelcase furniture symbols by browsing through a catalog of furnishings. The structure of Steelcase catalogs lets you specify furnishings in a top-down, hierarchical fashion. You can choose any available catalog, placement mode and symbol name. In 3D layouts, you also can place furnishings at different elevations.
Place By Style Number
This tool helps you place Steelcase furniture symbols if you know style numbers. You can choose any available catalog, placement mode and symbol name. In 3D layouts, you also can place furnishings at different elevations.

How To Place An Item
No matter which method you use to find furniture symbols, the process you go through to insert the item into your drawing is similar.

In the dialog box shown above, you will select the catalog that you would like to work with. This is done by clicking on drop-down under the word “Catalog”. Find the catalog you want and single click on it.

Next, click on the style number (when the Style Number tab is active).

You can also click on the plus signs to expand the table of contents (when the Hierarchy tab is active). Continue clicking on the plus signs until you get to the item you want to place. Single click on that item.

There is one additional step that must be taken in the Place By Heirarchy mode. You will see that after you click on the item you want to insert that there may be multiple representations of the style number that can be inserted. This is indicated in box on the bottom of the dialog.

Multiple representations include left-hand or right-hand versions of a product, or different elevations for placement. There are many other representations that are included for some products in the FSL.
Single-click on the representation you want to insert into the drawing.
Click on the Insert button (Alternatively, you can double-click the representation you would like to use to insert the block into your drawing).

Note that you may also make several choices before inserting the item. In the View drop down you may choose either the 2D or 3D view of the product. When placing in 3D you can also key in the height above zero you would like the item.
